Date: 05–17 June 2016
Help Foundation, in association with the District Women Empowerment Department, Singrauli, conducted a community awareness campaign under the Lado Abhiyan 2016–17 across Singrauli from 5 to 17 June 2016.
The campaign focused on the theme “बाल विवाह रोकें, न दहेज लेंगे न देंगे” (Stop child marriage; neither take nor give dowry). Through nukkad nataks, community interactions and awareness activities, the campaign brought important messages on women and child rights directly to rural communities.
The street plays were conducted in local community settings, engaging women, children, youth and other residents. Performances used storytelling, dialogue and public participation to communicate the social and legal concerns associated with child marriage and dowry practices, while encouraging families and community members to support healthier and more equitable social practices.
The campaign reflects Help Foundation’s grassroots approach to women’s empowerment, child protection and community awareness, using locally accessible forms of communication to reach people in their own communities.
