Date: 14 June 2016
On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, Help Foundation, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society and Vindhyanagar Hospital, organised and participated in a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp on 14th June 2016. The initiative was conducted to raise awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation and to encourage healthy individuals to become regular blood donors, helping save countless lives.
The camp brought together doctors, healthcare professionals, Red Cross volunteers, social workers, and members of the community who united with a common purpose of strengthening the region’s blood supply for patients requiring emergency medical care, surgeries, trauma treatment, and maternity services.
Medical teams carried out donor registration, health screening, blood pressure checks, haemoglobin testing, and medical counselling to ensure that every donation was safe for both donors and recipients. Eligible volunteers donated blood under the supervision of qualified healthcare professionals while following established safety and hygiene protocols.
Throughout the programme, Help Foundation volunteers worked alongside the Red Cross team to assist with donor registration, guide participants through the donation process, provide awareness on the benefits of voluntary blood donation, and motivate first-time donors to contribute to this humanitarian cause. The campaign also emphasised that a single unit of donated blood has the potential to save multiple lives and encouraged citizens to make blood donation a regular social responsibility.
The event served as an important platform to educate the public about misconceptions surrounding blood donation and highlighted the continuous need for voluntary donors to maintain adequate blood reserves in hospitals and blood banks. Participants were recognised and appreciated for their selfless contribution towards saving lives and supporting the healthcare system.
By actively participating in World Blood Donor Day, Help Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to promoting public health, humanitarian service, and community participation. The initiative reflected the Foundation’s belief that voluntary blood donation is one of the simplest yet most impactful acts of kindness that can provide hope and a second chance at life for those in need.
